Am I the only one developing a slight anxiety over the new EU copyright proposal thing? I’m seriously not feeling good, fandom life as it suggests is part of my life. Everything I draw and write (here, at least) are fandom things.
I’m legit typing a letter to my country’s MEPs, a country where there’s not even a single article about it, so I might be one of the firsts. It’s scary, awkward, I have never done this before either, but please, if you live in EU/UK gather your courage, ask your parents (!!!), please raise your voice, you have nothing to lose by sending some emails and be active about this.
Please don’t just like this post, hit that reblog button! Thank you.
my biggest nightmare is meeting irl bsd authors in the afterlife and explaining to them all inappropriate shit I’ve said about their fictional counterparts
this is the most sophisticated phishing e-mail I have ever received and if they had sized the logo correctly and actually proofread the fucking thing I probably would’ve clicked that button
actually please reblog this because someone else got it too. do not click on the links in this e-mail if you get one like it, just forward it to spoof@paypal.com and delete it
“Review Your’s Accounts” was a big hint, but there was one glaring mistake, even bigger than the wrongly-sized logo, and it’s one that can never be fixed by scammers:
Top tip - Paypal, and indeed almost every legitimate business you have email contact with, will always use your name rather than a generic honorific like “client” or “Sir/Madam”.
If it doesn’t say your name anywhere in the message, do not trust it.
First thought: Ho-ho, that clunky English is a dead giveaway.
Second thought: If English wasn’t my first language would I notice the clunks?
As @justhere4coffee points out, real business contacts address you by the name you gave them when you signed up (and it wasn’t Sir/Madam Client, was it…?)
Here’s another tip: When you hover your cursor over a click-button, the
destination URL will appear on a pop-up or at the bottom of the screen. Know what the correct one
should be. If the email pop-up is different, it’s a fake.
(If you don’t know the correct URL for PayPal, eBay, Amazon or wherever the email claims to come from, find out.)
If you’re thinking ”
why am I seeing this?I haven’t used PayPal / eBay / Amazon in weeks”, check your account information on the actual business website.
Finally, forget the “I hit reblog SO FAST” stuff.
Think before you
click, especially if an unexpected email has ominous phrases like: “please respond within 24 hours or…”, “penalties may be incurred if…” That’s very, very dodgy.
A legitimate business email works by calendar, not by stopwatch.
I don’t know if I’m the only one who feels like this, but my tumblr isn’t as interactive as it used to be. When I just started off this blog, people would regularly ask me things, whether it was them trying to be funny or them participating in an ask meme I reblogged. I’d get tagged in funny posts, and I’d have shitpost chains with some of the funniest mutuals I have. But now that I have a “larger” following, people don’t talk to me as much anymore. Like, if I send a DM to someone they’ll respond, but if I don’t I literally don’t talk to that mutual for ages.
I just kinda miss that feeling of waking up to notes that aren’t just likes and reblogs. Like, I appreciate my followers and I fully understand that you all have your own lives both on and outside of the internet, but I miss interacting with people on this platform.
If I’ve ever done/said something that bothered you, please tell me because I most likely didn’t realize. And if you’re someone I used to talk to a lot, please don’t feel forced to start a conversation with me. I mean I’d love it if you want to, but if you’re not in the mood to talm to me that’s cool too.
I’m very sorry for ranting but I needed to get this out of the way. I’ll go back to my regular posting soon.
